Youth Sunday Run-Through

Tonight is our Youth Sunday practice run. We're putting on a worship service for our churches. This is a great way for us to show our churches how amazing NEMBY is and what God has been doing in our group. A bunch of you have signed up for things, but I still need a few more to help out with the audio/visual crew and as ushers. Please let me know if you can help. Even if you're not signed up for anything, please plan on coming to the service on Sunday at 7pm at Scott St. We know how awesome NEMBY is, but come out to show our churches!

We'll be meeting at Scott St. MB tonight at 7 pm for the practice run. It'll be a chance for us to make sure we know what's going on...who's doing what, when. It shouldn't take too long, so maybe we can go to Port for ice cream afterward...or I suppose we could go to McDonalds.

Friday & Sunday

Tomorrow we're going to be having a make-a-movie night. We'll laugh, we'll cry, it'll be an all around good time. We'll meet at Fairview MB at 7:00 pm.

Emily Bowman, from Camp Crossroads is also going to be joining us, so let's make sure we're especially welcoming to her :)

On Sunday is our Spaghetti Dinner & Pie Auction: Grantham Edition. I still need at least 6 more pies, so seriously, let me know if you can make one....after all, we are doing this so that you can have an awesome youth group!

Please plan on being at Grantham MB Church (469 Grantham Ave.) at 9:30 am. If you're a member of NEMBY but usually go to a different church on Sundays then can you talk to your parents and see if you can come to Grantham for this one? We really need everyone to make this a success. We should be finished the whole thing by 2:30-3:00 pm.

I also still need one person to help Mark, Colin, and I make our amazing homemade spaghetti sauce. We'll be doing it on Saturday at 1:00 pm at Grantham. Let me know if you can help.

Bible Study & Pie Auction

First of all, we've got Bible study tonight! We'll be meeting at Fairview MB at 7:00 pm. We're on chapter 5 of the book "Crazy Love" I'll have a few more books to give out, so if you want one then please bring $10 along...or if I gave you one last week. If you've already got the book then make sure to read chapter 5.

Secondly, this Sunday is our Spaghetti Dinner & Pie Auction: Grantham edition. These fundraisers are super important for NEMBY since they provide us with the funding we need to be the awesome group that we are. That being said, I need 2 things from you to make it great!

1. Please talk your parents and plan on being at Grantham MB Church this Sunday at 9:30 am to help set up and do food prep. The meal will start after church and there is a lot to do to get ready for it. Please try to come even if you don't normally attend Grantham.

2. Let me know if you're able to bake a pie for the auction. Some of the ladies from the church have offered to bake some, so we don't need quite as many as we normally do, but we still need at least 15 pies.

Love in Motion

Just a reminder that there is NO YOUTH tonight. Sad, I know, but the amazing thing is that we'll be having youth ALL DAY TOMORROW!!!

Love in Motion is tomorrow! We'll be meeting at Scott St. MB Church at 10 am, along with about 120 other young people, from all over the Niagara Region, for a day a loving God and loving the community. We talk about living out our faith all the time in youth so here's our chance to actually do it! To put action to our words...to put love in motion, if you will.

NEMBY will be participating in 2 different service projects: baking cookies for Women4Women (a drop-in program for sex-trade workers in St. Catharines) and spring yard work for Bathesda (a group home for people with disabilities).

The day will end with a bbq, a worship time (lead by Tim), sharing, a great speaker...Mark will also be rapping at some point and JD will be dancing.

So, here's the important info for the day:
Time: 10-5:30ish
What to bring: Clothes you don't mind getting dirty and a BAG LUNCH...maybe bring a change of clothes as well in case we get a bit muddy

Easter Stuff

We'll be meeting at Fairview MB Church at 7:00 pm for some classic Easter celebrations. Easter!? What the?! Isn't Easter over already? The answer to that, my friend, is yes, but in classic NEMBY style, we waited until the holiday passed to celebrate. There will be eggs, there will be chocolate, the Easter bunny might even make an appearance. Seriously, you do not want to miss this!

Easter Weekend

So, this weekend is a big one...EASTER!!! It means that you guys have a crazy long weekend and that there are a ton of church things! Here's an outline of all the Easter goodness that you can come to.

1. Good Friday Service: 10:45 am on Friday at Fairview MB Church...it's going to be all 3 of churches coming together for a service...let's see if our churches can come together as well as we have.

2. Sunrise Service: 6:00 am on Sunday at the Welland Canal Lock 1. I realize that this is CRAZY EARLY and I've got kind of a love/hate relationship with the Sunrise Service because it's so early, but I'm always glad that I go because there's something amazing about seeing the sunrise and thinking about the reality of what we're celebrating on Easter morning. I know you probably don't want to come to this, but I'm really going to encourage you to do it! Mark will be leading some singing, we'll read some scripture and I'll be doing a short Easter devo. It's going to be good AND WE'RE GOING OUT FOR BREAKFAST AFTER. Bring some money along for breakfast.

Okay, I think that's it, but let me know if you've got any questions. And SERIOUSLY, COME TO THE SUNRISE SERVICE!!! Remember that you can sleep in on Friday, Saturday, and Monday, so really, what's the big deal about getting up early on Sunday?

Bible Study Tonight/Election Debates

So tonight we will be meeting at Sabrina's house to watch the Election Debates! I know it sounds lame, but we both think its really important to know what is going on in the country and to think about what sort of issues that we can see and try to talk about different ways in which we can help resolves these issues.

i know politics are lame but it really is an important thing to think about, even if you're not old enough to vote right now, its still good to think about issues and all that jazz.

So Sabrina's address is: 169 Lake St. The debates start at 7, so if you want to come a bit earlier thats cool. There will be snacks.

Swimming at Brock

We're going swimming tomorrow!!! We'll be meeting at Fairview at 7:00 pm and then heading to Brock. Swimming will cost $4.75 per person so please be sure to bring your money. Girls please make sure to either wear a one-piece or bring a dark tank top to wear over your bikini.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

We're in for a night of theatrical delight! We're going to see some of our very own NEMBY members in Eden's performance of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" WE'LL MEET AT EDEN HIGH SCHOOL on Friday at 6:30 pm to get our tickets (it's always a bit confusing in a big group) and make sure we have good seats. If you're a high school student then you're ticket costs $7 (please bring proper change because I won't have change to break everyone's bills) and if you're not in high school then your ticket costs $10. Please bring your money along to pay for the ticket. If you're not sure if I got a ticket for you then take a look at the list I sent yesterday.

Worship Night & Pie Auction

Movie Night

We've been painting in the youth room for the past two days and it's looking good. That's right, a brand new room, all for us! However, unless you've been helping paint, you won't be seeing the room until next week because we're going to be having our movie night at GRANTHAM MB tonight.

We'll be meeting at Grantham MB Church (469 Grantham Ave.) at 7:00 pm and then we'll be watching a Disney classic. There will be laughter. There will be tears. It'll be an all around good time.

so we're supposed to be going skating tomorrow for youth, but check the weather, its sunny, ergo skating is a no go. how sad, i know, but i think you'll get over it cause friday is still gonna be pretty sweeeet

Youth Retreat!!!

Tomorrow is the start of our youth retreat!!! Here's the thing though, I'm not sure if you've looked at the weather forecast but we're supposed to get loads of snow tomorrow. Not really bad news, BUT if it's a snow day and they cancel the buses then we won't be able to leave tomorrow! I doubt that you've ever done this before but please pray that tomorrow is NOT a snow day.

I'm going to assume that the buses will not be canceled. If everything goes according to plan, we will be meeting at Fairview MB Church at 4:45 pm tomorrow. Please bring all your stuff along (see the list packing list below).

We will be stopping at a service centre on the way for supper, so bring some $ along for that. Let your parents know that we are hoping to be back in St. Catharines at around 4:00 pm. You'll be able to give them a call once we're back...that way they don't need to wait around if we end up being late.

What to Bring:
• Sleeping bag, pillow
• Warm clothing
• Towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, etc.
• Winter boots, warm jacket, snow pants, gloves, scarf, toque
• Flashlight
• Bible, notebook, pen

If it does end up being a snow day and the buses are canceled then I'll send a message with the new information.

Birthday Party

We're having a birthday party for Ruthie tonight!!!! Whether you usually come to Bible study or not, you're invited to join us to celebrate Ruthie's birthday. We'll be meeting at Fairview at 7:00 pm. It's a surprise party so please don't be late or you might ruin the surprise.

Winter Retreat Info...

Woo hoo!!! The winter retreat is next weekend!!!

Here's a bit of info for it:
We'll be meeting at Fairview MB Church next Friday at 4:45 pm. There will be a bus waiting for us, so we'll load her up and our weekend adventure will begin! We will be making a bathroom/supper stop on the way so bring some money along for that.

The weekend will be filled with outdoor fun (sledding!), relaxing, being together, and worshiping God. Mark & I will be leading our sessions and Sam Willems will be leading the singing portion of our worship times. It is going to be a great weekend!

We will be leaving to come home again at noon on Sunday so we should be back around 4:00ish. Let you parents know that you'll call them once we're back...that way they don't need to wait around for us if we're a bit late.

If you have not signed up for the retreat and you're seeing the error of this and really want to come (which is understandable because this is going to be great) then let me know, be really nice to me and I'll think about letting you come :) Also, if you haven't gotten your form to me yet then MAKE SURE YOU BRING IT. You will not be allowed on the bus if I don't have your form (and I'm really not joking about this).

I've already sent out all the info for tonight, so this is really just a reminder of the details. We're going to Waterloo tonight for the Ontario MB Conference: Youth Track. We'll be meeting at Fairview MB Church at 5:15 pm. Please eat supper before you come because we won't have time for a supper stop...although I think there will some snacks after the conference.

Gargon!!!

Yup, you heard me right. We're going to be playing Gargon tonight. We'll be meeting at Fairview MB at 7:00 pm and then the fun will begin. Please, please, please wear proper running shoes...bad things happen when people don't and be ready to run around and get sweaty.

Next week, we're going to be going to Waterloo for the Ontario MB Conference Youth Night. It's going to be a worship night with other youth groups from all over Ontario. There are going to be some speakers from a few different mission organizations and it's going to be good. I'm going to have a sign-up list for it tonight and I need to know how many people are coming so that I can make sure we have enough rides. We'll be leaving at 5:30 next Friday. Please talk to your parents/think about whether or not you want to come to this and be ready to sign up tonight. Oh and there is no cost for this. If you can't make it tonight but want to come then just message me and I'll add your name to the list.

Bible Study at Fairview

Worship Night

We were originally going to be playing Gargon for youth this week, but since there will be another group at the church on Friday we're going to postpone Gargon until next week.

Instead, we're going to be having a low-key worship night. Tim will be leading some singing, I'll be talking a bit, and we'll have a time of sharing. Typically, the few sharing times we've had over the past few months have been a bit awkward and hardly anyone has actually said anything. Last week's worship night at Southridge was really good and challenged us to bring God into every part of our lives, including our schools. In our Bible study we've been talking about how to be the person God created us to be...again, living our whole lives for Him. We're going to be talking a bit more about that tomorrow, so think about it and about what God's been doing in your life in relation to these things and think about whether or not you have something to share with the group about it.

After the worship time we'll be hanging out in the youth room and perhaps playing a few youth room games...the animal game, 4 on a couch, the bowl game = awesome!

Bible Study

Happy first day of a new semester!

Just writing to remind you that we've got Bible study tonight. 7:00 pm at Jesslyn's house.

It's not supposed to really start snowing until late tonight, but drive safely anyhow and if it looks like it's snowing really hard then stay tuned...I'll cancel it if the roads look horrible.

Hooray!!! Exams are over!!! Freedom is here...at least for a few days!!!

Here's what's happening in NEMBY this week:

1. We will be having an unofficial youth night this Friday. We'll be having a "Toy Story" movie marathon! Wear cozy clothes and bring cozy blankets. We'll be starting "Toy Story 1" at 6:00 pm and working our way through...taking breaks as needed. We'll be ordering pizza at some point so if you want pizza then bring $5 along.

2. The reason Friday night is unofficial is because our official youth event is happening on Saturday at 7:00 pm at Southridge Community Church (201 Glenridge Ave.). We'll be joining a bunch of youth groups from all over the Niagara Region for a night of worship and prayer. I'm really looking forward to it and I hope you come out and join us for it. Let me know if you need a ride.

3. Fill out your retreat form and bring it to me!!! Our winter retreat is at the end of February (25-27) and the deadline for the forms is February 4th...but early forms are definitely welcome and encouraged.

Exam Week Stuff

Hello NEMBY!!!

I hope all of you are surviving your exams! I'm just writing to remind you that we are NOT having Bible study tonight. Hang in there exams are almost finished!

If you're a member of Grantham MB Church then know that I'm going to be sharing a bit about NEMBY at the membership meeting tonight and the church is going to have an official vote on it. If at all possible, study ahead and come out to give support to NEMBY...I get that your in the midst of exams though. The meeting is at Grantham MB Church at 7:00 pm.

We don't have anything official planned for youth this Friday since our youth event is the joint worship night on Saturday, but if you're interested then come to Fairview MB at 6:00 pm for a Toy Story movie marathon!!! That's right, we are going to enjoy Pixar's best back to back...it'll be awesome and it'll be a test of endurance!

We'll be ordering pizza somewhere in the mix, so bring $5 along if you want some.

Exam Lounge Night

Change of Plans...Tobogganing!!!

I'm not sure if you've looked outside recently, but there's snow outside!!! And lots of it! So, we're going to take advantage of it and go tobogganing tomorrow night!!!

We'll be meeting at Fairview MB Church at 7:00 pm and then we'll be heading to Lock 4. Wear warm clothes...snow pants, winter coat, scarf, toque, mittens, boots, etc. because we'll be outside all night...or until we're sufficiently exhausted. Oh, and bring a sled, crazy carpet, toboggan, etc. if you've got one.

Cheesy Christmas Potluck

So, here are the details for our Cheesy Christmas Potluck on Friday. First off, WE'RE GOING TO MEET AT 6:30 PM at Fairview MB Church where we'll be having a night of classic Christmas fun. This Christmas fun may include (but should not be limited to) a potluck supper, an ugly Christmas sweater competition, Christmas stories with Uncle Gary, a re-gift exchange, and watching a classicly horrible Christmas movie.

The things to bring are:
1. A food item to contribute to our potluck (and a huge appetite since there will be a ton of food for us to enjoy)
2. An ugly Christmas sweater (or just any festive-wear)
3. A gift for the re-gift exchange (the emphasis being on the RE...please do not go out and buy something for this, just wrap up something you've got at home that you no longer use)

Here are some suggestions for the potluck, but really you can bring anything that you love to eat. Please do not just make your mom make your dish for you...at least help her out and make sure you tell her about this asap so that she doesn't find out about it on Friday and get stressed about having to make something quickly.
• Veggie platter
• Fruit platter
• Meatballs
• Pasta or potato salad
• Some sort of casserole
• Stew
• Chili
• Perogies
• Soup
• Crackers & dip or cheese
• Garlic bread
• Dinner rolls
• Salad of any kind
• Dessert
• Anything that you like to eat

Breakfast on Tuesday
Two weeks is a really long time to not have youth...seriously! So, lets have breakfast together on Tuesday (Jan. 4). Let's meet at 10:00 am (that way you can still sleep in) at Angel's Diner (395 Ontario St.). Don't feel like you have to come, but if you're free and you want hang out then meet me there. You should be able to get breakfast for under $10, but bring $15 just in case.

Prep for youth next Friday
We're going to be having our Cheesy Christmas Potluck next Friday (Jan. 7). I'll send details about it next week, but there are some key components to the night that you might have forgotten about:
1. You'll need an ugly Christmas sweater.
2. We're doing a re-gift exchange.

No Bible Study or Youth

I hope all of you had a good and merry Christmas! I can't believe that it's already come and gone! Anyhow, I'm just writing to remind you that there is no Bible study or youth this week. We also won't be having Bible study next week. I am however inviting everyone out for a group breakfast sometime next week...if you're interested then stay tuned for more details...

Caroling

Just a reminder that we're going caroling tonight!!! I'm going to be honest with you, I'm not sure that I've ever gone caroling before, but I have a feeling that the senior that we sing for tonight are going to absolutely love it!

We're meeting at Scott St. MB Church (339 Scott St.) at 7:00 pm and then we'll be heading out to do the caroling. PLEASE BE ON TIME...we aren't going to wait around the church for long, so if you know you're going to be late then let me know so we can wait for you.

Dress warm because we will be outside for part of the night.

After we're done caroling then we'll be putting together the stockings for The Deck.

Christmas Project & Ice Dogs

Two things for tomorrow...both are important so please read this entire message!

1. I'll be collecting money for our NEMBY Christmas project - stocking (filled with personal hygiene products) for some of the more needy youth from YFC's The Deck (a drop-in centre for street involved youth, here in St. Catharines). Our goal is to raise $1000! Perhaps that was a bit lofty, but anything we can do is better than nothing, so please bring along whatever money you can to help with this project. I need the money tomorrow so we can buy the stuff, assemble the stockings, and get them to The Deck next week. If you're not coming to youth tomorrow, but have money you'd like to donate then message me to let me know and I'll add it to our amount and collect it from you next time I see you.

2. We're going to see an Ice Dogs game tomorrow!!! Take a look at the list below. If you're name is on it then that means that I have a ticket with your name on it. The tickets were $11 each so please bring the money for your ticket along. We're going to be meeting at Fairview MB Church at 6:15 pm and we won't be waiting around for long, so DON'T BE LATE! If you know you're going to be late then let me know so I can make sure you get your ticket. If your name is not on the list below then that means I do not have a ticket for you, so don't show up at the church. Also, there will be a Teddy Bear Toss at the game tomorrow so if you want, you can bring a new teddy bear to help them with a toy drive they're doing.

Bible study & Christmas project reminder

Just a reminder that we've got Bible study tonight at 7:00 pm at Jesslyn's house (1515 5th St.).

We're going to be having a movie & discussion night about Christmas because I'm not sure if you've noticed, but Christmas is less than 2 weeks away!!!

Volunteering at Salvation Army

Tonight is Youth Bible Study night!!! Instead of the usual Bible study we're actually going to be helping out The Salvation Army with their Christmas Hampers. We're going to meet at GRANTHAM MB CHURCH (469 Grantham Ave.) at 6:45 pm and then we'll head over to the Salvation Army warehouse. Please wear warm clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. I'm not entirely sure what we'll be doing, but we'll probably be sorting clothes, toys, and food into bins.

The Salvation Army enables hundreds of families to celebrate Christmas and this is one way that we can help!

Tomorrow night is Where's Waldo. We'll be meeting at Fairview MB Church at 7:00 pm and then heading to the mall...it's going to be awesome!

I guess I forgot a bit of information.

1. We'll be finished at around 10:30 am on Saturday. We should have enough rides for everyone to get home, but if we're short of vehicles then we'll have you call your parents tonight to let them know where and when to pick you up.

2. Girls, if you want to use the pool or hot tub at my parents' house then bring your swimsuit and towel (please bring a one piece or a dark tank top to wear over your bikini).

Girl/Guy Sleepover

I hope you're ready for a ton of fun! Tomorrow night we'll be having sleepovers...separate girl & guy sleepovers which means that although there won't be any flirting going on, we can do exactly what we want to do as girls and as guys.

We're all going to be meeting at Fairview MB Church (455 Geneva St.) at 7:00 pm and then we'll be heading to our separate locations from there.

Here's what you need to bring.

Everyone needs to bring a sleeping bag...or something to sleep in, a pillow, clothes for Saturday...really, just bring what you would normally bring for a sleepover. Also, we'll be meeting up at the Little Red Rooster (in N.O.T.L.) for breakfast, so bring some money for that.

Guys are going swimming at Brock so bring your swimsuits & towels...we'll cover the cost of that, so no need to bring extra $ for it. You also need to bring some meat for midnight meat. If you don't know what midnight meat is, then you're in for a treat, but bring some raw meat along that Gary can grill for you. There's a bunch more that the guys have planned, but I'm going to let the rest be a surprise. Guys are staying at Gary & Lauren's house (327 Line 4, N.O.T.L.). If you need to be picked up early or can't stay for the night then that's where your parents can pick you up.

Girls don't need to bring anything extra, just bring your sleeping stuff and $ for breakfast. Girls are staying at my parents' house (1178 Concession 6, N.O.T.L). That's where you can be picked up if you need to go home early.

Oh boy, is tomorrow going to be fun!

Youth Bible Study

Hello NEMBY :)

It's a new day people and I'd like to welcome NEMBY to the world! Grantham, Fairview, and Scott St. MB Youth groups are now one amazing youth group called North End MB Youth a.k.a. NEMBY! This Friday is our first time together and we'll be meeting at 7:00 pm at Fairview MB Church (455 Geneva St.)

Cheesy Halloween...Goodbye SSMAIRVIEW...

Tonight is going to be a good night! We're going to be having our cheesy Halloween night. So, be ready for some Halloween classics...pumpkin carving, bobbing for stuff, etc...I don't want to give away too much of the goodness. Since this is a Halloween night, costumes are welcome...not necessary, but welcome.

We'll be meeting at Scott St. at 7:00 pm.

Also, this is going to be our last night as SSMAIRVIEW, so along with our Halloween fun, we're also going to be celebrating SSMAIRVIEW. Fun with Pat & Josh!!!

This weekend is the youth leadership retreat, up at Camp Crossroads. That means that our student & adult leaders will be joining other youth leadership teams from all over Ontario for a great weekend of team building, fun, and planning. But don't fret, that doesn't mean we're leaving you stranded...you guys will be having fun with Pat & Josh while we're away.

Come out this Friday for a youth extravaganza...more accurately known as: make-a-movie-night, with Pat & Josh. It's going to be creative, fun, and hilarious, so you do not want to miss this.

Come to the church at 7:00 pm and bring a video camera if you've got one! We'll need 4-5 video cameras, so seriously, if your family owns one then please ask if you can bring it along. Also, make sure you bring the cables for it along as well or else no one will be able to see the cinematic masterpiece that your group creates.

Youth Worship Night

Tonight is our 2nd youth worship night. It's going to be a night of worshiping God through singing, sharing, and fun...and our very own youth worship band will be leading the singing. What's that? We have our own youth worship band? The answer is, yes! We do have a worship band, so let's support them tonight as they lead us in worshiping God.

Also, remember that we do our worship nights with the jr. youth, so I encourage you to remember back to when you were that age, and thought the sr. youth were so cool...talk to them. Make them feel welcome!

And the jr. youth aren't the only ones joining us tonight. This will also be our first, trial event with Grantham Youth. Whoa, this is a big night. So again, talk to them. Make them feel welcome. Remember what it was like a year ago for our two groups as we were becoming one and let's do what we can to make this good.

Bible Study & Community Thanksgiving Dinner

First off, we've got Bible study tonight at 7:00 pm at Jesslyn's house (1515 5th St.). Come on out for some good discussion.

Secondly, this Friday is our Community Thanksgiving Dinner, so I'm going to need a bunch of help at different times this week. This dinner is something that our youth group has done for pretty much forever now (I think it's been 14ish years). With the help of some ladies at our church we will be hosting the community for Thanksgiving Dinner. Not only does this promote community in our area, but it also provides a turkey dinner and a place of belonging for people who might not have family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving with. Personally, I think this is my favourite thing that our church and youth group does all year, so please take a look at the times I need help and let me know when you can come.

Wednesday at 3:45pm (just come to the church after school) - posting flyers

Friday at 10am - helping the ladies with the meal prep (peeling potatoes, cutting bread for stuffing, etc.)

SSMAIRVIEW Records

Get ready for a night of awe and amazement. Do you have any odd or spectacular abilities or physical traits...perhaps you can fit an amazing number of marshmallows in your mouth at once, or have a ridiculously long tongue, maybe you can hoola-hoop with the best of them, or spit a sunflower seed further than anyone you know. Stuff for this Weekend

This Friday, we're going to be doing a photo scavenger hunt around St. Catharines. Please meet at Scott St. at 7:00 pm and please be on time because we won't be waiting around for long. There are a few things that I need you to bring for our photo scavenger hunt...a camera (with the cables to hook it up to a tv), and $2 to help cover the gas costs. Each group needs a camera, so if you've got one at home then please bring it and MAKE SURE YOU BRING THE CABLES FOR IT.

Also, this Saturday is the VBS follow-up, so we've got a load of kids & parents coming to the church and we were asked to help run some of the games. If you're available to come out for this then please come to Scott St. at 4:00 pm on Saturday

And, last but not least (this weekend is a busy one) this Sunday is our Spaghetti Lunch fundraiser at Fairview. The money we raise at this lunch goes to cover the costs for our youth events, helps us keep the cost down for retreats and mission trips and basically helps us run a great youth program. I know that we all go to different churches, but as part of SSMAIRVIEW I'm asking you to come out and help with this.

Please meet me at Fairview MB Church (455 Geneva St.) on Sunday morning at 9:30. At that time we'll need to set up the tables & chairs, set tables, and make the salad & garlic bread...there's a lot that needs to be done, so please, please, please, come out and help.

Youth Bible Study

That's right, youth Bible study is starting up again and tonight is the night. Jesslyn has very graciously offered to host us for this, so we'll be meeting at her house (1515 5th Street) at 7:00 pm.

In case you're wondering what youth Bible study is all about...it's a time for us to come together, share things that are going on in our lives, study the Bible or a Christian book or discuss various topics in order to figure out who God is and what it means for us to follow him.

Because tonight is the first Bible study of the new year, we'll take some time to talk about what we're hoping to get out of Bible study, where we're at in our lives & relationship with God, and hopefully figure out what would be most beneficial for us to start our new year of youth Bible study.

Youth Worship Night

A new year of youth is about to begin and I'm not going to lie, I've got a good feeling about this year. We're going to be meeting tonight at Scott St. at 7:00 pm. We'll be in the gym tonight and we're going to be doing something new...having a worship night. So, we'll be worshiping God tonight through singing and sharing and being together.

End of the Summer :(

Can you believe that the summer is coming to end and September is already here!?! Well, tomorrow night we're going to end the summer with a bang. We'll be having an end of the summer/long weekend bbq at Kevin's parents' house. We'll MEET AT THEIR HOUSE (3 Glencairn Dr.) NOT AT THE CHURCH at 7:00 pm. Be hungry because the grill be going and the food will be delicious. Please bring $3 to help cover the cost of the food. We're going to be outside all evening, so dress appropriately and there is a pool there, so if you want to go swimming then bring your swimsuit and towel (girls remember to bring a dark tank top for over your bikini).

Ice Cream @ Port

For youth tomorrow, we'll be going to Port Dalhousie where you can get ice cream, ride the carousal, throw a frisbee around on the beach, walk the pier...really the options are endless. Just make sure you bring some money along if you want ice cream and bring a sweater (it is definitely getting colder out once the sun goes down) and bug spray (remember the bug fiasco of 2 summers ago...ugh).

As of right now, I have not been able to find a house for after youth, so if you guys want to go somewhere after youth then someone needs to ask their parents and give me a call either today or by the latest tomorrow morning. Otherwise, it'll be Port and then home. It will be a smaller group since a bunch of people are at Camp this week, so if you're worried about size then this would be a great week for you to have the group over. Outdoor Movie Night

Tomorrow night is outdoor movie night. We'll be meeting at the church at 7:00pm and then heading to Gary's house (327 Line 4, N.O.T.L.) for an evening of outdoor hanging out and movie watching. The feature movie is always a surprise so don't even try getting it out of me, but it's a classic that I'm sure we'll all enjoy.

Please, please, please, bring warm clothes and blankets along because we can't start the movie until it's dark outside and with the darkness comes cold. Also bring a lawn chair if you've got one and bug spray.

Also, if you have not yet reminded your parents about the parents and leaders meeting tonight at 7:30 pm at Fairview then please do so.

Parents and Adult Leaders Meeting

Can you make sure that your parents know about our parents and adult leaders meeting this Thursday at 7:30 pm in the youth room at Fairview? This meeting is not mandatory (obviously), but it's a chance for us to get to know your parents, let them know what our youth program is all about, answer any questions, and tell them how great all of you are.

The information for this meeting has been in both churches bulletins and two weeks ago I gave you guys handouts to pass on to your parents so hopefully they already know about this meeting, but can you tell them about it just in case? Thanks.

Pool Party

For youth tonight we're going to be having a pool party at Kevin's parents' house.

Meet at the church at 7:00 pm and if you want to go swimming then bring your swimsuit and towel (girls remember to bring a dark tank top to wear over bikinis). Be prepared to be outside for the evening.

Ridicuputt

This Friday is going to be amazing and ridiculous because we are doing ridicuputt. If you don't know what that means then you'll just have to come out to find out.

Please bring $7 for the putting portion of the night and $3 for the ridiculous portion of the night...preferably separately because we will need the money at different times, but don't worry about it if you can only bring a $10 bill rather than the proper change.

Be at the church at 7:00 pm and be prepared to be outside for the night...bug spray, sweater, etc.

Frolf

I can't believe that tomorrow is already Friday!!! Well, here are the details for youth tomorrow... We'll meet at Scott St. MB Church at 7:00 pm and then we'll be going to Mark's parents' house for some rousing rounds of frolf, to be followed by a sweet bonfire and some smores. Be at the church on time or if you know you'll be late then meet us out there (1313 President Court). Be prepared to be outside for the night...bring a sweater, bug spray, etc. Also, if you've got a good frisbee at home then please bring that along as well.

VBS Painting

This is just a reminder that we're going to be doing some painting and set-up tonight for VBS. We'll meet at GRANTHAM Church at 7:00 pm (469 Grantham Ave). Obviously since we're going to be painting, wear clothing that you don't mind getting paint on.

VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE!!!

I've been looking at the forecast for Port Burwell (where the Sand Hills are) and it's calling for thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow. Anyone who was on the retreat two summers ago will remember how miserable it was to camp in the rain...and I'm guessing that thunderstorms will be even worse...SO, instead of going to the Sand Hills we're going to stay local and sleep at my parents' house, have our sessions, do some awesome local day trip things tomorrow (if its clear out), and stay nice and dry all weekend.

We'll meet at the church at 7:00pm instead of 5:00pm because we are no longer going to be driving for 2.5 hours. You still need to bring your sleeping bag, pillow, swimsuit & towel (hopefully we'll be doing some awesome wet activities tomorrow), Bible, bug spray, etc.

Let me know if you have any questions. And for those of you who opted out of coming on the retreat because of work or for other reasons let me know if you want to join us now and I'll see what we can do.

Youth Retreat!!!

Here's the deal for the youth retreat tomorrow:

We're meeting at the church at 5:00pm...please be on time! We will be stopping for supper on the way, so you can either eat before you come to the church, bring some money along for supper, or bring a bag supper along.

Things to remember to pack are: a sleeping bag (or blanket), pillow, swimsuit (girls make sure to bring either a one piece or tankini or a dark tank top to wear over bikinis), towel, toiletries, Bible, sunscreen, bug spray, clothing, mess kit (plate, cup, cutlery).

Oh, and we'll be doing midnight meat tomorrow night, so if you want to partake in that then bring a piece of meat for Gary to grill for you. Other than that all the food will be provided.

Picnic Tonight

It was in the bulletin and I announced it on Friday, but here are the details for the picnic tonight...sorry for not sending this sooner...I blame it on my lack of internet access.

We'll meet at 7:00 pm AT Russell Ave. Park (I'll give you the address and directions at the end of the message). We'll be eating supper together, so do not eat before you come. You don't have to bring any food or anything, but maybe bring a couple of dollars to help cover the cost of the food ($2). After we eat, we'll hang out...maybe throw a frisbee around, play in the splash pad, etc. Oh, one thing you could bring would be a blanket to put on the ground to sit on.

Russell Ave. Park is at 108 Russell Ave. It's really simple to get to, but the best way to get directions would be for you to look up directions from your house to the park on googlemaps.

If you were coming from the Scott St. church you would turn left onto Geneva St. and then right onto Russell Ave. and the park will be on your left...it's at the corner of Russell Ave. and George St.

Retreat and Friday

Mission 360 is over and I'm not going to lie, it was AMAZING!!! And I'm not just saying that...ask Mark, Willow or Kristen. Hopefully we'll have a chance to share a bit about it with you guys.

Anyhow, it's come to my attention that not a lot of you have been at youth for the past two weeks, so I want to make sure that all of you know that the summer retreat is coming up really soon...next weekend (July 23-25). This Friday is the deadline to hand in your forms, but since some of you haven't been out to youth in the past two weeks, you probably don't have a form yet. Please let me know if you need a form because I really need to know who is coming by Friday so I can buy the appropriate amount of food and make sure we have enough vehicles to get there and tents to sleep in, etc.

If you don't have a form yet, then please respond to this message immediately to let me know and I can get you a form.

Also, we're going to be playing Capture the Flag this Friday since we were rained out last Friday, but in order for it to be fun you all need to come out...seriously, we can't play Capture the Flag with only 8 students!!! So come out this Friday at 7:00 pm...it'll be awesome!

Change of Plans

I'm not sure if you've looked outside today, but the weather is not nice :( ...so, instead of Capture the Flag you're amazing adult leaders have come up with a rain plan...you will be having a movie night.

Hello SSMAIRVIEW!!!

I trust and hope that you're all doing well. Mark, Willow, Kristen and I are having a blast on Mission 360 and learning loads about God, our city, and ourselves. It's been pretty exhausting, but incredible. I can't wait to share about the trip when we get back.

Anyhow, just so you know, you'll be playing Capture the Flag for youth this Friday, so be at the church at 7:00 pm and be ready to run around...wear proper shoes and possibly bring a sweater and bug spray because you'll be outside all night.

Also, I think you might be going out for ice cream afterward, so if you want ice cream then bring some money along ($5 should cover a cone).

Hiking & FIREWORKS!!!

For youth this Friday we're going to be going hiking, so make sure that you wear appropriate footwear and clothing...also bring some bug spray and perhaps a water bottle. It's not going to be an intense hike or anything, so don't worry if you're not super outdoorsy...it'll be enjoyable for all. Meet at the church at 7:00 and don't be late or you might miss the ride.

And then because this weekend is Canada Day weekend and if there's one thing you think of when you think of SSMAIRVIEW it's patriotism, we're going to celebrate with our own SSMAIRVIEW fireworks show. Now, to make this happen...or perhaps I should say, to make it good, we all need to chip in, so bring some money along to contribute to the fun. There is no set amount that each person has to bring, but just know that the more money we have, the better the show will be. I suggest that everyone bring between $5-$10 along...but that's just a suggestion. We'll be doing this at Gary's house, so if you'll need to be picked up somewhere then get your parents to pick you up there (327 Line 4, N.O.T.L.).

Also, Willow, Kristen, Mark and I will be starting Mission 360 this Friday, so think of us and pray for us this coming week.

Ultimate Frisbee

School is OVER!!!! Hopefully all of you now feel the freedom of summer seeping into your bodies and minds.

Tomorrow night for youth we're going to be playing ultimate frisbee, so bring proper running shoes, wear clothes that you can sweat in, and bring a water bottle...you might also want to bring clothes to change in to afterward.

We'll meet at Scott St. at 7 and then head to the park. Please be on time so you don't miss us.

No Bible Study

Guys Campout & Girls Hangout

BOYS CAMP OUT
You guys are camping out with with Scott St.'s boys club. You'll be meeting at the church at 5:45 pm and then heading over to Jeff Wiens' house where you'll be hanging out, doing guy stuff, eating meat, being manly, etc.

Please bring a tent if you've got one, a sleeping bag & pillow, your swimsuit & a towel, a baseball glove if you've got one, and some meat to grill for midnight meat.

It is a camp out...that means over night, so hopefully you've already told your parents about that. You can plan on being home some time tomorrow morning.

GIRLS HANGOUT
Lady's, we'll be going to my parents' house tonight to hang out, go swimming, talk, eat good food, watch a movie, etc. We'll be meeting at the church at 7:00 pm and then heading over there.

We'll probably hang out outside for a bit, so please dress appropriately for the weather. Bring your bathing suit if you want to go swimming, and be ready for a fun night. We will not be sleeping over, so we'll be finished at the usual youth ending time (between 11 and midnight).

Last Bible Study

School Yard Games

Tomorrow night is youth!!! Wow, this week has gone by quickly! Anyhow, we're going to go back to simpler times that involved skipping, hopscotch, and holding hands at recess...that's right we'll be playing school yard games...although I don't want to see any hand holding tomorrow night...unless it's during a game of Red Rover.

We'll be meeting at the church at 7:00 pm and then heading across the street to Lincoln Centennial, so if you're late then just meet us there. Please wear shoes you can run in and dress weather appropriate.

Bible Study & Blue Jays

Just a reminder that we've got youth Bible study tonight at 7:00 pm at my house.

Also, Fairview Church has invited us to join them for a Jays game on Saturday, July 10th. They are playing the Boston Red Sox. Tickets are $12 per person for level 500 seats. Please let me know if you're intersted in going.

Canal & Ice Cream

This Friday we're going to be getting outside and getting active. We're going to the Welland Canal for a walk after which we will go the Avondale for some ice cream...hm, that might defeat the purpose of being active... It'll be nice and laid back and a great time to hang out and have fun.

We will be meeting at the church at 7:00 pm. Make sure you dress appropriately for the weather. And bring $ along if you want to get some ice cream.

Bible Study & Mission Trip Info

I'm back now, so that means that youth Bible study will be tonight at 7:00 pm at my house. Hopefully I'll see a lot of there.

I also wanted to give you the details for our summer mission trip again. We're going to be doing "Mission 360" with two other churches from here in the Niagara Region (Southridge and Cornerstone).

Mission 360 is a week long mission trip experience hosted right here in the Niagara Region. It might not seem as exciting as going away for a mission trip, but it'll give us a chance to learn what it looks like to really answer God's call to action right here in our city. We’ll be doing a wide variety of things such as light construction work, serving the elderly, developmentally disabled, homeless, and also aiding with local community outreach programs...all the usual mission trip stuff. I'm really excited about this opportunity because I'm sick of us just talking about what it means to live out our faith in our daily lives and I think this will help us figure out how to actually do it.

The dates for the trip are July 2-10 and it'll cost $270. The money goes to paying for food & accommodation, transportation expenses, covering the cost of our fun activities, etc. This is not a lot of money for a mission trip, but if your concerned about the cost then let me know and we can talk about some fundraising ideas.

Because the trip is only a month away, I NEED TO KNOW WHO IS INTERESTED IMMEDIATELY. Let me know if you've got any questions.

Details of the week

Here's the important details of the week:

1. Bible study will be at the church this Tuesday at 7:00 pm and Mark will be leading it...It'll be awesome!!! Bible study is for EVERYONE!!!

2. On Friday we'll be playing giant games. It will also be awesome. Make sure you wear running shoes. Be at the church at 7:00 pm. Remember that there is a wedding happening that night, so try to be quiet when you're entering the church.

Tonight and Tomorrow

Hello SSMAIRVIEW,

First off, I want to remind everyone that we're volunteering at the Benefit Shop tonight from 6-8 pm. Meet me there at 6 (it's at the corner of Grantham and Facer...let me know if you need directions).

Secondly, here's the deal for youth tomorrow night. We'll be going to my parents' house for the evening. The swimming pool (indoor) will be open, so if you want to go swimming then bring your bathing suit & towel (girls remember to bring a tank top to wear over your bikini...or wear a one-piece or tankini). It's supposed to be really nice outside so we'll plan on being outside for the evening...dress appropriately for the weather.

We're meeting at the church at 7:00 pm and we'll be leaving shortly after that so be on time, or meet us at my parent's house (1178 Concession 6, N.O.T.L.)

No Bible Study/Volunteering on Thursday

I just wanted to remind you/make sure you know that we're not having Bible study tonight because we're going to be volunteering at the Benefit Shop on Thursday. DO NOT come to my house tonight. Stuff for this Week

Just a reminder that we've got youth Bible study tonight at my house (169 Lake St.) at 7:00 pm.

Remember that there will be NO YOUTH this Friday because we'll be on the church retreat. If you are not coming on the retreat, but want to do something on Friday then you can go to Southridge at 7:00 pm to watch a movie called "To Save a Life".
