Pool Party!!!

I have a very important message…this Friday we’re having a pool party!!!  We’ll me at 7pm at Nicole Wiens’ house (60 Cecil St).  They have a pool, a volleyball net, and pretty much the sweetest backyard ever.  If you want to go swimming then bring your swimsuit and towel (ladies, make sure you bring a dark tank top to wear over your bikini).  We’ll end the night off with a bonfire and s’mores (yum!).  Bring a sweater and bug spray for once the sun goes down.

Also, we still need at least 3 more volunteers to help with the VBS party & BBQ on Thursday.  VBS has been super fun already and all our NEMBY volunteers are doing awesome with the kids.  Don’t miss this chance to help out!  Let me know if you can help!

This Friday is our SLEEPOVER NIGHT!!! Pay special attention to the info that relates to you so you don’t miss anything important!

MEN

You will meet at Scott St MB Church on Friday at 7pm.  You need to bring:

• Sleeping bag & pillow
• $ for breakfast
• MEAT (of the midnight variety)…FYI – Josh would prefer it if you brought steak and said any other meat choice might be frowned upon
• Have your ride ready to pick you up from Angel’s Diner (395 Ontario St.) at 10:15 am

LADIES 

We will meet at my parents house (1178 Concession 6, NOTL) on Friday at 7pm.  You need to bring:

•  Sleeping bag & pillow
•   $ for breakfast
•  $15 for GO-KARTING & close-toed shoes!!!
•  Have your ride ready to pick you up from Angel’s Diner (395 Ontario St.) at 10:15 am

Ultimate Frisbee Showdown!!!

Remember that THIS FRIDAY is when IT ALL GOES DOWN!!! We'll ***MEET AT 6pm*** at the Centennial Arena in Virgil (1565 Four Mile Creek Rd, NOTL)  for the ULTIMATE FRISBEE SHOWDOWN between us, Cornerstone youth and Southridge youth!!!  Make sure you wear your brand new NEMBY t-shirt (if you have not yet gotten yours then bring your $15 on Friday to get it) (if you didn't order a shirt but are planning on playing on our team then wear a light blue shirt), shoes and shorts you can run in, and a water bottle!  If you're more of the cheering variety then get your cheering voice ready!

After the games are played and the cheers are cheered then we'll be going to my parents' house (1178 Concession 6, NOTL) for a bonfire, hotdogs, marshmallows, and hanging out.  Have your ride pick you up from there at 10pm.

Ultimate Practice

We'll be meeting tomorrow (Friday) at 7pm at Grantham MB Church to learn some sweet (/ultimate) frisbee skills!  Wear shoes you can run in and clothes you don't mind sweating in.  Next Friday (June 20th) is the big tournament between us, Cornerstone, and Southridge youth so we need to make sure we're ready!

Also, our new NEMBY t-shirts are ready so if you ordered one then make sure you bring your $15!  Please bring exact change because we won't be able to break a bunch of $20 bills.

Youth Sunday

This Friday we'll be meeting at 7pm at Scott St MB to do a  practice run of our Youth Sunday service.  Make sure you invite your family and friends to join us this Sunday (June 8) at 7pm to worship God with us and hear about what He's been doing in our lives this year!  After we're finished our practice we'll go across the canal to the Avondale Dairy Bar for some ice cream so bring some money along if you want to get ice cream.

Murder Mystery

Good news, NEMBY!  Each of you has won an all-expenses paid voyage on the HMS Narwhal!  The ship opens this Friday at 7 pm at Port Scott.  All you have to do is sign in when you get there.  Don’t miss a dazzling performance by rising pop sensation Melby Summertime in the ship’s Café Paradise shortly after 7 pm!

Bible Study

Bible Study is tonight at 7pm at Scott St MB.  We'll be looking at James chapter 2 which is packed with good stuff.

Airbands

This Friday is your chance to show us what you've got.  Choose a song, talk to your friends, and rock out.  There will be prizes for the best airband.

Definition of AIRBAND - a group of people who mime playing instruments and singing to a song.

Comedy & Ice Cream

Are you ready for a night of hilarity and laughter mixed with the perfect amount of ice creamy goodness?  That’s right! I’m sure you’ve all been waiting for this night to come!  This Friday is our annual night of COMEDY & ICE CREAM!!!  Alongside the comedy acts of some tried and true comedians, you’ll have the opportunity to present your own comedy act, so feel free to jot down your best jokes and funny stories to present to the group during the open mic portion of the night!

It's finally here!  Tomorrow we'll be meeting at Scott St MB Church at 7pm for the Mark Danger Concert!  It's going to be a great night of sharing the love of God through the music and dance and pizza and fun!  Bring your friends!

Also, SIGN UP FOR THE MISSION TRIP.  The deadline to sign up is next Friday (May 9).  Seriously!  It'll be a week that you can give to God, allowing him to do his thing in your life.  And on top of that it'll be a ton of fun!  SIGN UP!

Tonight for Bible study we're going to be doing something different.  Remember how on Friday I talked about how God calls us to love him with everything we've got and to love our neighbours as ourself?  How we naturally and instinctively love ourselves and how we need to get over ourselves and our narcissistic tendencies and start noticing the needs of others and be willing to help meet those needs just like we meet our own needs?

Tonight we'll meet at Scott St MB Church at 6:30pm and then we'll be going downtown to Mahtay Cafe where the St. Catharines Standard is hosting a panel discussion on poverty in our city.

I HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE and I'm really praying that God would open our eyes to the needs around us.

Worship Night

This Friday is our monthly worship night!  We'll meet at Fairview MB at 7pm for a night of singing praise to God and learning how to know and love Him better.

Mark 12:30-31 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength...and love your neighbour as yourself."  How do we actually do this when we live in a culture that is self-centered and tells us that the best thing we can do is learn to love ourselves?  How can we get over ourselves in order to love God and love others the way God calls us to?

Easter Stuff

This weekend is Easter weekend!!!  This means that there is NO REGULAR YOUTH THIS FRIDAY NIGHT, however, there are a few GREAT SERVICES that I want to make sure you know about so you can join us in celebrate the death and resurrection of Christ.

On Friday you have 2 choices for a Good Friday service.

Fairview MB Church at 10:30am

or

Scott St MB Church at 10:30am (this is a joint service with Grantham MB)

Easter Sunday we’ll be meeting for our annual SUNRISE SERVICE.  We’ll be meeting at Jones Beach (142 Broadway, St Catharines) at 7:30am for a time of reflection, singing, and communion.  Nigel & Sam will be leading the singing.  Even though this is early I really want to encourage you to come out and celebrate Easter together with us. 

Finally, feel free to come out to any of our 3 churches at 10:30am on Sunday for an Easter Sunday service.

Hopefully I’ll see you at one of these services, but if not, HAPPY EASTER!
